LA Cancion Del Lagarto

Excellent story for sharing with kids of all ages!Lizard's Song is the story of a lizard who teaches his friend Bear his favorite song ("Zoli, zoli, zoli...Rock is my Home"), only to discover that Bear keeps on forgetting it. Ultimately , Lizard realizes that the problem lies in the song, which is about Lizard's home. When he makes the song about Bear's home(..Cave is my home")Bear never forgets the song again. Share this story with anyone, but especially share it with homesick preschoolesrs, and remember to ask them at the end what they live in, and make a song for each of them never to forget.

Land of the Spotted Eagle
Published in Paperback by Univ of Nebraska Pr (December, 1978)
Average review score:

Land of the Spotted EagleThis is the finest book I have read on the lifestyle of the Lakota (Sioux),people not only before European contact, but also how they dealt with their transformation into "civilized" members of the dominate society. It was originally written in 1933. Luther Standing Bear took his name after entering Carlisle Indian School. How sad that the newcomers to North America didn't take the time to learn the culture of the original inhabitants of this land. We would all be better off today if they had. This book gives much insight into why. Even at this late date, there is a lot that can be learned from "Native Wisdom." I highly suggest that anyone interested, read this book. It will touch your heart!

The Last Bit-Bear: A Fable
Published in Paperback by Roberts Rinehart Pub (July, 1999)
Average review score:

An important book for every child and adultI have come in search of The Last Bit Bear because of my college experience. I have found that since I have been in college very few people have been strong enough to be an individual. The Last Bit Bear is the story of a bear who is the last of his kind, an individual by default. It is a story of how he searches for other Bit bears but in the end finds that he is the last bit bear; he finds his Self. This book will encourage children to be individuals and go in search of their Self, adults as well. I love all children's books but this one in particular because of the powerful message it sends in the classic form of a fable. I applaude the author.

Learn Bearmaking
Published in Paperback by Open Chain Pub (April, 1900)
Average review score:

This book will help you bring your own bear to life.Learn Bearmaking walks every aspiring bearmaker through a clear step-by-step process of bringing their own creation to life. Judi Maddigan did an outstanding job making sure all her bases were covered. The reader will discover not only pattern pieces and sewing directions, but also numerous tips and pictures, illustrating how to make their bear turn out well. I highly recomend this book. If you can use scissors and a sewing machine, Judi's book will successfuly teach you how to make your own bear. I believe you will find that bearmaking is a lot like parenting. You can put everything you know (or don't know) into this little critter (including your heart) and still come up with something entirely unexpected.

Little Bear (My First Reader)
Published in Paperback by Children's Book Press (September, 1990)
Average review score:

Excellent Emergent ReaderThis book is a welcome addition to my library of emergent reading books. The repetitive text and natural sentence structure allow emergent readers to quickly follow the text and "read the book" independently with minimal skill. The storyline is believable and the apprehension about trying new foods is a common "affliction" of many preschool and early elementary children. This book is an excellent addition to a reading specialist's book shelf for tangled and struggling readers.

A Good Book To Get To Sleep WithMy mom and dad would read this book to me when I was about two years old and I would be asleep when they finished. It's a book about a little bear that doesn't wan't to go to sleep. He keeps on making excuses about not going to bed! And finally he gets to sleep.

Little Bear's Baby Book
Published in Hardcover by Candlewick Press (April, 2000)
Average review score:

This is the Perfect Baby BookThis book is perfect for your baby's memories. Not only are the Baby Bear pictures cute but the book is just the right size. It has just the perfect number of pages and just the right questions to make it a great baby book. There is not so much to write down that you will never finish. It is even better for the second or third baby.
I highly recommend this book for anyone wanting a great scrapbook for keeping memories of their new baby.
